familiar with DuPont´s Nomex meta-aramid fibre. What´s new
is that you can now get this flame-retardant, heat-resistant
yarn in a wide variety of colours. Schoeller has succeeded
in developing a process that allows Nomex to be coloured directly
on the spool.
The
temperature-regulating fibre Outlast has made an outstanding
name for itself in the functional clothing market. In several
application areas, however, customers requested further improvements
to its hydrophilic properties and a more natural feel.
Last year was a difficult one for worsted yarn spinners. Overcapacity in
Italy and other uneconomic western locations, and extremely tough
